Hapgood RV Park in Henrietta, TX. Ever heard of it? Probably not and you wouldn’t be alone in that thought. When I first started to plan our journey out to Yellowstone National Park, this little park popped up on https://www.rvparky.com/. RV Parky is THE BEST way to plan a camping trip. It’s an incredible resource and I would highly encourage you to use it.

Hapgood was our first night on a 4 day journey to get from Dallas to Yellowstone. If you’re anything like me, the anticipation of the beginning is so exciting and you’ll do just about anything to get on the road as soon as possible. Our family of 3 opted to leave right after David got home from work on Friday. Leaving in the evening has its positives and negatives.

Hapgood was a great option because it was only 120 miles from home. Typically a 2 hour drive, but when you’re pulling a camper behind you, it takes a bit longer. Plus, if you take the wrong road going into the park (and by wrong road, I mean the super sketchy, super skinny dirt road), it just makes the trip that much longer. Be smart and take the easy way in.

After we were freed from the dirt road, we pulled into the park and found one last camp site. Site #12 out of 12. Conveniently located close to the dumpster. You can decide if that is a positive or negative. At the full hook up site, the electricity was easy enough to find, but the water was a little tricky. I’m sure the pitch black darkness didn’t help us out, but we found it. We were a bit surprised to see that there was only one spot left when we arrived, but you only need one, I guess.

The next morning, all we needed to do was pay and get back on the road.

TIPS FOR PAYING AT HAPGOOD RV PARK:

  • BRING $15 CASH
  • BRING SOMETHING TO WRITE WITH
  • KNOW YOUR LICENSE PLATE NUMBER

Then, we were off. Trying to get some miles behind us before we had to stop again. It’s a long road from Dallas to Yellowstone National Park. AND it’s more than worth it!
