Sleep, play and enjoy this wonderful Texas State Park. Â Its the perfect weekend getaway spot for the whole family!
This Texas State Park is in such a great location, just off Interstate 20. Â It’s not so close that there is a lot of traffic noise, but it’s not so far that you’re feeling you’ve gone too far down the road. Â It’s also close to other small West Texas cities that are worth exploring. Â Make this state park your home base and enjoy the area.
Campsites don’t get much closer to the action than this. Â We were able to step outside our door and on to the Sandhills. Â If you’ve ever been to Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, you know you have to walk a bit to enjoy the dunes. Â We all know that walking in sand isn’t the easiest task so having the Sandhills so close was a huge bonus for us.
This park offers water and electric sites and at just 26 to choose from, you better make a reservation for your stay here. Â Plus, you’ll be able to pick your site and can get one close to the hills. Â Not all sites are created equal. Â Some do require a short walk.
First things first…head to the park office to rent a sand disk. Â You can bring your own of course, but the ones they provide are perfect for sliding. Â They also give you some wax for your board to help make the sliding a little easier.
The Sandhills offer miles of fun. Â You can slide right next to the picnic area or campground. Â You can also take a walk to any of the hills, some reach 50 feet tall. Â No matter where you choose to slide, make sure you’re safe. Â The hills can get very hot when temperatures heat up. Â Enjoy!
