Looking for a great overnight stop near Dinosaur National Monument? Outlaw Trail RV Park is the perfect spot. This location doesn’t get much better. It is right off the road but the noise level is almost zero which is always a plus when you’re trying to catch some Zzzzzz.
When we arrived at Outlaw Trail, we were greeted by the very friendly owners. We made a reservation with them prior to leaving for our trip. It was a very easy process. They only take reservation by phone. HERE is their contact information. After you make a reservation, they’ll send you an email confirmation and you’re all set. Upon arrival, you’ll go to their super cute office which has the best airplane playscape the kids enjoyed so much.
After we got all checked in, the owner walked us over to our site. We were able to get a pull thru since we were only staying one night. Make sure to check how level you are when you pull in. The park is basically a wide open gravel lot. It’s nice, but not level everywhere.
This is one of the most kid friendly RV Parks we’ve stayed at. Now, I don’t know how much weight that carries as we don’t usually stay at RV Parks. We are more of a State Park/National Park kind-of-stay family. We welcomed the playground they had and just the overall relaxing feel of this park.
You may be wondering why we chose to stay here. First of all, we were coming from Yellowstone National Park and heading to Dinosaur National Monument. The monument actually has a great camping option, but we chose Outlaw Trail for ONE BIG REASON…water/electricity hookups. After spending a week dry camping at Yellowstone, we were ready for full hook ups. Dinosaur National Monument could not offer us that. I think that if we had not been coming from Yellowstone, we probably would have stayed inside Dinosaur National Monument just so we could be closer to all it has to offer. This was a wonderful alternative though. So, if you need water/electric hookups when you visit Dinosaur NM, I’d recommend Outlaw Trail RV Park.
