With its rugged terrain, lush forests, and captivating rock formations, this park offers a haven for outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure and tranquility alike. Among the park’s many attractions are its family-friendly hiking trails, each promising a unique and immersive experience in the heart of the Ozarks.

Devil's Den Trail

This scenic path leads adventurers through lush forests, alongside streams, and unveils three natural attractions along the way—Devil’s Den Cave, Devil’s Icebox and Twin Falls.

We’ll first arrive at Devil’s Den cave about 1/2 mile after we have started the trail.  Unfortunately, the cave is closed to through hiking due to the safety of the bats that call it home.  On to our next destination at Devil’s Icebox.  This is a very large cave entrance in which we can look in to see the depths of the cave.  However, this area is also closed for the bats.  Don’t forget to explore the areas between the cave and the icebox as there are many opportunities for adventure. Continuing along Devil’s Den Trail, we soon arrive at Twin Falls. Emerging from the forest, we are greeted by the sight and sound of cascading water as it tumbles gracefully over rocky ledges. The falls create a symphony of sound that echoes through the surrounding landscape, filling the air with a sense of serenity and wonder.  In total, this trail is a 1.5 mile loop.

Yellow Rock Trail

A favorite among seasoned hikers and casual strollers alike. Stretching approximately 3 miles round trip, this moderate trail leads us through a kaleidoscope of natural wonders, from verdant woodlands to towering sandstone bluffs. But the pièce de résistance awaits us at Yellow Rock itself, a majestic outcrop offering panoramic views of the Lee Creek Valley below.

Woody Plant Trail

As we meander along this 1/2 mile interpretive trail, we’re treated to a veritable feast for the senses. From towering hardwoods to delicate wildflowers, each specimen has a story to tell, weaving together the rich tapestry of life that thrives in this pristine wilderness. This trail is just off the Area E Campground Loop and would make the perfect spot for that morning cup of coffee.

Lake Trail

Along the Lake Trail, the waters of Lake Devil beckon us to unwind and reconnect with nature.  As we reach the shores of the lake, we’re greeted by the sight of sunlight dancing upon the water’s surface. It’s an open invitation for kids and grown-ups alike to enjoy this natural playground.

Our hike through Devil’s Den State Park is a testament to the awe-inspiring beauty that awaits those who dare to venture off the beaten path.  Each trail offers a glimpse into the timeless wonders of the Ozarks.  Make some time to visit this beautiful Arkansas State Park.
