We stopped by this “pop architectural land art” on our way to Big Bend National Park from El Paso, Texas. Â It’s hard to miss as it’s basically the only thing on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Â
It was completed in 2005 in a collaborative effort among artists, contractors, architects, and representatives. Â The building is filled with shoes and purses from the 2005 Prada collection. Â You can read about the specifics below.
Most people are aware of Prada Marfa because Beyonce came to visit back in 2012 while she was on a road trip with her sister. Â She famously jumped in front of the art piece and now it’s a thing. Â I tried to mimic the jump and totally nailed it! Â Haha!!!!!!
Make no mistake, Prada Marfa is not in Marfa. Â It’s actually in Valentine, Texas. Â If you’re in Marfa, head northwest on highway 90 for about 30 minutes and you’ll see it on the side of the road. Â It’s hard to miss.
Don’t forget to bring a lock with you when you come. Â You can contribute to this amazing art piece and add of a little bit of yourself. Â There are a variety of locks on the fence around the art piece so be creative and bring something unique.
