Travel the Loop Road to some amazing pueblos in Wupatki National Monument.  Begin your journey at the visitor center (as always) and experience these seven sites.

Seven Pueblos You Can't Miss

Wupatki

Located behind the Visitor Center, this is the largest pueblo at Wupatki National Monument.  The pueblo has over 100 rooms, but there is more than just the pueblo here.  Check out the above ground Kiva, ballcourt, and sweeping views of the area.  This easy, 0.5 mile trail should take you about 30 minutes to complete.  Check out more information HERE

Wukoki

This pueblo can be found on Wukoki Pueblo Rd about 2.5 miles from the visitor center.  It features a 3-story tower and you are allowed access to walk around inside this structure.  A rare treat and one you have to experience.  HERE are more details.

Citadel

The Citadel sits on top a hill about 10 miles from the visitor center.  It’s just a short hike up to some beautiful views.

Nalakihu

Nalakihu pueblo is right next to the road and just below the Citadel so it is a great chance to see two things.  Nalakihu means “house standing outside the village.”  It’s unknown who and why people lived here, but research continues into the amazing lives of these people.  Find out more about these two structures HERE

Lomaki

At Lomaki, you’ll find three pueblos.  This area is also about 10 miles from the visitor center.  It is known as the farming area of the community.  The larger pueblo is at the end of the 0.5 mile trail and there are 2 smaller structures on the sides of box canyon. Details HERE
